TPWD & Agrilife Extension Workshops
February 11th – 8:30-4pm – 9th Annual Prescribed Burning Field Day – M.O. Neasloney WMA, 20700 St. Hwy 80 N, Gonzales, TX 78629 (approximately 7 mi south of Luling, between Luling and Belmont). – This workshop is designed to give landowners and managers a basic understanding of the use and application of prescribed fire in a wildlife and/or grazing management program. Presentation topics will include: Historical perspectives on fire, the role of fire in vegetation management, fire weather and safety, planning the burn, fire line preparation, suppression equipment, and smoke management. Participants will conduct a burn if conditions permit. Please RSVP by 5pm Friday, February 10th via email at Brendan.witt@tpwd.state.tx.us, or by phone at 830-424-3407. Please bring your own lunch and drink, leather gloves, leather boots, and cotton outerwear. There is no cost to attend this workshop.
February 14th – 8:00 – 3:45pm - Feral Hog Management Workshop – Luling Civic Center, Luling, Texas.
Five hours have been applied for Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator continuing education units at the program (2 General, 2 IPM and 1 Laws and Regulations).
Topics at the workshop will be: Basic Biology of Feral Swine, Feral Hogs in the Plum Creek Watershed, Plum Creek Watershed Protection Plan Implementation, Population Dynamics, Update on Feral Hog Research, Laws and Regulations for Hunting Feral Hogs, Agricultural Regulations Regarding Feral Hogs, Feral Hog Control, and Feral Hog Safety and Disease Concerns.
Information about controlling feral hogs is available at both of these websites: plumcreek.tamu.edu/ feralhogs; http://feralhogs.tamu.edu/. PLEASE pre-register with the Caldwell County Extension Office by February 10th to ensure an accurate count for the meal and handouts. Registration is FREE and includes lunch, refreshments, and handout materials. Individuals with disabilities should contact the Extension office at least two days prior to the event so accommodations can be made. This event is free of charge through a Clean Water Act Section 319(h) nonpoint source grant from the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

AWU-CER Lunchtime Lectures
The 2012 series will begin at noon at Austin Water Headquarters Downtown (Waller Center, Room 104 or 105 [625 East 10th Street – between I-35 and Red River]). Lectures will be given the first Wednesday of the month. These lectures are free and open to the Public – bring a lunch and learn!

Reporting Forms
Please report your volunteer and advanced training hours each month, using the Volunteer Activity reporting form. Send your completed reports to Scott Moore.
Three forms are available:
1. A PDF file for those of you that complete time sheets manually and mail them to Scott,
2. A Word document in which you can insert your scanned signature, or scan after signing and email to Scott, and
3. A word document including the statement needed for an electronic signature.
If submitting your report electronically, e-mail back to Scott at: lpmnhours@gmail.com. If submitting by regular mail, send to Scott Moore, 415 Patton Cove, Bastrop, Texas 78602).
